The Seoul Convention Bureau, was at IMEX 2014 promoting the city as a prime venue for meetings, conventions and exhibitions. It presented itself as being able to provide multilayered support to foreign and domestic event planners choosing Seoul to host their conference, and acts as an information service for business tourists and the media on Seoul’s conventions infrastructure.  The attentive staff attracted visitors with calligraphy and spent time introducing the new three phase development of Seoul(Dongdaemun Design Plaza, Floating Island and Seoul Station Convention Center) to facilitate its ambitions to host large scale high impact events.

Recognized for excellence in the promotion and development of tourism in Seoul, the Seoul Tourism Organization(STO) was awarded the Seoul Mayor’s Award by Mayor Park Won-soon on April 30, 2014.  STO has been acclaimed for its recent contributions in establishing the Myeong-dong Tourist Information Center through collaborative initiatives with private institutions. STO will continue to strive to achieve only for the best tourism experience in Seoul with its partners.

Established in 2008, the Seoul Tourism Organization (STO) is a joint venture company between the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the private sector. STO was established to promote the outstanding tourism attractions and services for the city of Seoul, and to become the key player in Seoul’s efforts to become a premier worldwide MICE destination.

Dongdaemun Design PlazaSeoul, is a city with a strong international tourism sector, visited by over 80% of all inbound tourists who enter the country.  STO has developed and maintained Seoul as the 5th-place worldwide in the Union of International Associations (UIA) convention rankings,  and aims to attract 20 million international visitors annually within the next few years, and in so doing make Seoul a premier worldwide tourist destination.

Being exclusively in charge of Seoul City’s MICE initiatives, STO operates the Seoul Convention Bureau (SCB), which undertakes a wide variety of activities to attract business events to the city. These include bidding consultation, operation of MICE support systems, the fostering of domestic and international networks, staff training and support for international meetings, and more.

STO looks forward to achieving even more in its role as the official government-sanctioned marketing entity for Seoul. It will continue to increase Seoul’s competitiveness, improve the city’s tourism resources, tourism infrastructure, and also develop its MICE facilities.
