INDABA 2014, Africa’s Top Travel Show, is set to be one of the largest tourism marketing events on the African calendar and one of the top three ‘must visit’ events of its kind on the global calendar. The three-day trade event is expected to attract well over 13,000 delegates from the travel tourism and related industries internationally.

Held in the picturesque coastal city of Durban, South Africa, INDABA will take place at the  Inkosi Albert Luthuli Convention Centre (Durban ICC) and Durban Exhibition Centre (DEC), from 10th to 12th May, 2014.  Tourism product and service providers seek to capitalise on the country’s growing inbound tourism growth.  Some 1,500 travel and tourism buyers are expected to attend the event, which takes place from 10-12 May at the Albert Luthuli Convention Centre in Durban.

“It has never been more important to plug into Africa’s tourist trade. According to the latest United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) Barometer, Africa attracted three million additional arrivals, reaching a new record of 56 million in 2013. INDABA 2014 is the single biggest and best platform for doing business in African tourism,” says Thulani Nzima, Chief Executive Officer at South African Tourism.

Destinations (with travel product representation) confirmed to exhibit include Angola, Benin, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Reunion Island, Rwanda, Seychelles, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

This year’s event features a new addition in the shape of the TechZone, Business District, and returning favourites like INDABA Connect; which are all expected to offer new possibilities to both buyers and exhibiting delegates.  The face of the travel industry is changing, not only in the way that people view destinations, but also the kind experiences being sought.

The INDABA Tech Zone brings 6 “Tech Talks” speakers form around the world to give insights on travel trade while Tech Exhibitors will showcase exclusive digital tourism products and services unique to Africa.  The “Business District” will feature The Meeting Hub, which will allow buyers to meet exhibitors without first setting an appointment and offer the opportunity to buyers to meet exhibitors and create meaningful connections as a result of their networking.  The VIP section will also host premium exhibitors in exclusive meeting suites to facilitate interactions and connections with both international and buyers from across Africa.  More information on INDABA 2014
